Responsibilities of NBYAA officers & positions

RESPONSIBILITIES OF NBYAA POSITIONS

Note:  All positions listed here are expected to take turns with money-taking duties for all of the NBYAA sports. (For example, the basketball commissioner is needed to help with baseball concessions, and vice versa.)  The more volunteers we have, the fewer shifts we need from each person.

EXECUTIVE BOARD  (2-year terms)

President  Calls meetings; sets agendas; recruits others for officer positions; along with VP, fills in for any needed responsibility of another officer or position (see all the other positions below!!!!); does whatever it takes to make sure the NBYAA functions.  The buck stops here.

Vice President   Fills in as needed for the president's duties, assists all other positions however is needed; This person is flexible, available, and ready to help out in a wide variety of ways. 

Secretary  Takes meeting minutes and makes then available for the website; obtains insurance for all 3 seasons; gets permission for field/court use from school/county for all sports; gets keys/codes for fields and distributes to appropriate commissioners; retrieves keys at end of seasons; sends tax acknowledgement letter to team sponsors; creates copies of rules for coaches for each sport and age group; responsible for creating baseball “All-Star Book” (birth certificates, rosters, proof of insurance, etc.) as needed

Treasurer   Pays bills, makes deposits, handles cash needs for concessions stands and admission gates, reconciles bank statements, makes reports to board.... money, money, money.

Purchasing Agent  Responsible for getting footballs and other football equipment, baseballs and other baseball equipment, scorebooks for each sport, etc.

Sports Commissioner  Coordinates Trophies and Sports Photos, and helps out in lots of other places as needed

  • Head Commissioner, who is also commissioner of older boys' divisions

Baseball & Softball

  • Head Commissioner, who is also commissioner of older boy's divisions
  • Younger Boys Commissioner (Rookie & 2-A)
  • T-Ball Commissioner

  • Scheduler & Referree Liaison
  • Concessions Director
  • Uniform Coordinator
  • Field Maintenance Supervisor

Flag Football

  • Commissioner

Football Commissioner  Sets schedule for registration before season begins, Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, helps find sponsors, participates with WNC football for scheduling games, handles football uniforms and equipment (shoulder pads, helmets, etc.), arranges for referees for home games, arranges for EMT and sheriff dept. representation for home games.  Works closely with Football GameDay Coordinator.

Football GameDay Coordinator  For home football games, this person make arrangements for the chain gang, concession schedule, announcer, spotter, & stadium clean-up.  Works closely with Football Commissioner.

Cheerleading Commissioner  Sets schedule for registration before season begins, Recruits cheerleading coaches and communicates with them frequently, helps find sponsors, handles cheerleading uniforms.  For home games, the cheerleading commissioner is responsible for scheduling volunteers to work the admission gate.  Works closely with Football Commissioner and GameDay Coordinator.

Basketball Commissioner  Sets schedule for registration before season begins, Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local basketball referee organization to have coverage for games, develop schedule (probably with help!), oversees unlocking/re-locking of gyms. This role could be held by 2 people... divided up between the older and younger age groups.

Baseball Commissioner  Sets schedule for registration before season begins, Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local baseball umpire organization to have coverage for games, develop schedule (probably with help!).  Sometime this role is split with one person handling T-Ball & Rookie league while another person handles Babe Ruth (2A & 4A)

Softball Commissioner  Sets schedule for registration before season begins, Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local umpire organization to have coverage for games, develop schedule (probably with help!). 

COACHES are a critical part of the Youth League.  All coaches must pass a background check.  Thank you for coaching!!!
