Responsibilities of NBYAA officers & positions

RESPONSIBILITIES OF NBYAA POSITIONS

Note:  All positions listed here are expected to take turns with money-taking duties for all of the NBYAA sports. (For example, the basketball commissioner is needed to help with baseball concessions, and vice versa.)  The more volunteers we have, the fewer shifts we need from each person.

EXECUTIVE BOARD  (2-year terms)

President  The President will set agendas for meetings, recruits others for officer positions; along with the VP, fills in for any needed responsibility of another officer or position.  The President is the first point of contact with any school or county agency.  The President does whatever it takes to make sure that NBYAA functions in a positive, professional and ethical manner.  The President will maintain integrity and honesty at all times while working to ensure the development of the organization for the children and its members.  

Vice President   The Vice President will assume the duties of the President as needed.  The Vice President will assist all other positions however is needed; This person is flexible, available, and ready to help out in a wide variety of ways. 

Secretary  The Secretary will take meeting minutes and makes then available for the Board of Directors & Executive Board.  Obtains insurance for all sports seasons;  gets keys/codes for fields and distributes to appropriate commissioners; retrieves keys at end of seasons; sends tax acknowledgement letter to team sponsors; The Secretary shall handle all correspondence, and maintain files for the organization and all other duties pertaining to the office.  The Secretary will help Commissioners with uniforms for each sport. The Secretary will also help to maintian all background checks.

Treasurer   The Treasurer must show prior knowledge or experience in bookkeeping & also have some knowledge of accounting software programs, such as but not limited to Quickbooks.  The Treasurer shall accept all financial assest belonging to the Corporation, givingh his/her offical receipt thereof.  The Treasurer shall pay bills and shall keep accurate and detailed financial records pertaining to the financial status including income and disbursement of the corporation.

Sports Commissioner  Coordinates Trophies and Sports Photos, and helps out in lots of other places as needed

Football (Tackle) & Cheerleading

  • Football Commissioner
  • Cheerleading Commissioner
  • Both Commissioners help with uniforms.

Basketball

  • K, 1/2 Grade Basketball Commissioner
  • 3/4 Grade Basketball Commissioner
  • 5/6 Grade Basketball Commissioner
  • 7-8, 9-10 Grades Basketball Commissioner
  • Commissioners help with the basketball schedule

Baseball & Softball

  • T-Ball, Rookie, 2A Baseball Commissioner
  • 4A, Babe Ruth Baseball Commissioner
  • Softball Commissioner
  • Scheduler & Referree Liaison
  • Field Maintenance Supervisor

 

Football Commissioner  Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, helps find sponsors, participates with WNC football for scheduling games, handles football uniforms and equipment (shoulder pads, helmets, etc.), arranges for referees for home games, arranges for EMT and sheriff dept. representation for home games.  Helps recruit volunteers for gate & concession stand for home games.

Cheerleading Commissioner  Recruits cheerleading coaches and communicates with them frequently, helps find sponsors, handles cheerleading uniforms.  Helps recruit volunteers for gate & concession stand for home games.  

Basketball Commissioner   Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local basketball referee organization to have coverage for games. Helps to oversee unlocking/re-locking of gyms. Schedules gym supervisors for the season & helps with the regurlar basketball schedule working with the secretary.

Baseball Commissioner   Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local baseball umpire organization to have coverage for games.  There are 2 baseball commissioners one for T-Ball-2A, then one for 4A-Babe Ruth.  Baseball Commissioner's will also help with scheduling for the season.

Softball Commissioner  Recruits coaches and communicates with them frequently, organizes evaluations, helps find sponsors, works with local umpire organization to have coverage for games. The Softball Commissioner helps with the softball schedule.  The Softball Commissioner will also confirm the schedule on a weekly basis with outside leagues. 

 

COACHES are a critical part of the Youth League.  All coaches must pass a background check.  Thank you for coaching!!!
