DESCRIPTION OF DIVISIONS FOR NBYAA BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
For all divisions, coaches will be required to play all players a minimum of 2 defensive innings, and ALL PLAYERS BAT.
T-Ball – There is no pitching in T-ball. Players hit off of the Tee. Score is kept, but coaches are encouraged to put an emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of baseball, & sportsmanship.
Rookie -- Machine pitch. Players are continuing to learn the fundamentals of baseball. Bases are 60 feet apart, and base stealing is not allowed.
2A -- Kid pitch. Players are continuing to grow in their skills. Coaches are encouraged to develop pitchers. Bases are 60 feet apart. The pitcher’s mound is 46 feet from home plate. Stealing is allowed after pitch crosses home plate.
4A – Kid pitch. This division is now on a 50-feet pitcher’s mound, and bases are 70 feet apart. Coaches still need to be developing pitchers. Runners can lead off bases, & pitchers can now learn to pick off runners. Starting at this age balking is called on pitchers.
Jr. Babe Ruth -- Field is 60/90 dimensions. High school baseball rules with a few exception's regarding bat rules. USA bats, wood bats, & BB Core only.
Sr. Babe Ruth -- Field is 60/90 dimensions. High school baseball rules. Wood bats & BB Core only bats.
8U Machine pitch. Coaches are encouraged to develop fundamental skills & sportsmanship.
10U, 12U, and 14U Kid pitch. Coaches are encouraged to develop fundamental skills & sportsmanship.
